My Chances?!?

That is correct. I had actually never learned any strokes prior to the class (though I have been able to swim since the age of 2).

Im going to USAF academy summer seminar and hopefully i can get in, just waiting on those SATs…

My parents dont want me to go though, they think they will send me to Afghanistan if I go to the academy, i cant convince them on how wrong they are…

Academy, ROTC, OTS you will probably visit the stan brothers! Commissioning source plays no effect on who goes and who doesn’t.

Did you apply for one of the summer academy programs (Summer Leadership Conference–or something like that ). You are too late for this year, but those give you a great idea about academy life and they are competitive entry. I would guess that some of the posters here have attended.

Sorry, I posted after reading the first paGe only.

missmuff don’t sweat swimming…potter swam like a rock before entering the Academy. Now after 2 semesters of swimming she swims like a rock with floaties, but she passed water haze and did the 10 meter board.

I have to ask this, what sort of swimming attire is used? Is it just standard modest swimwear or is it with the PT shorts?

issued swimsuit. very attractive, to be sure. and water haze is in bdu with a swimsuit.

Is the class of '13 being issued bikini’s for the women, and thongs for the guys?

Not gonna lie, i’m a fan of speedos! So could it please not be thongs, but just speedos? :-D

eh, what we have now is nearly a thong with some extra cloth circling around it. so uncomfortable…

uncomfortable to be around…

yeah, that doesn’t sound too pleasant, not compared to a speedo.
I was at a 25yd pool just last week and didn’t have a single problem swimming submerged to the other side. So, do you have an actual number or even ballpark estimate how many cadets validate the first swim course?

You are also at sea level and not at altitude doing that. ;)

Either way, there is very little oxygen underwater for humans to breathe… ;)

hate to bring this off topic, but Lake Superior does not count as a sea, so we’re around 1000ft, not sea level.

ok well i’m technically from 1010 feet. i struggle everytime i come here from home. better? lol

however, i didn’t have a problem swimming the length of the pool underwater up here, if that makes you feel any better.

geez missmuff stop whining! :D

the biggest thing that keeps people from validating is not the under-water swim. it’s the distance for time, or the efficiency strokes. those two things keep most people in the class unless people practice before hand

do you remember off the top of your head what the time/distance and distance/number of strokes? i figured that would be the harder part ;)

and i’m whining, mateus? mr. “m, what squad are we on now ?!!” uh huh. stones from glass houses much? lol
