why are people viewing this but not answering? :(

A lot of people view the threads in this mcgill section but don’t reply, it’s weird. but i’ll admit i looked but didn’t reply because i’m not familiar with ib scores
but based off gpa and act, i would say (realistically) that your chances would be pretty low. it would help more if you posted your unweighted rather than your weighted gpa, and your ACT is below average for mcgill.

really?
but according to the mcgill website, it seems i can get in.

i’m not trying to be mean but yeah
are you sure that’s not the minima though? for example, a school like rice might throw out any people with SAT scores lower than an 1800, using the 1800 as a minima, just because they don’t think they would be a good academic fit. but the changes of getting accepted with an 1800 would still be low.
percentage-wise, your act is below average :/

I believe the McGill website lists these scores/grades as minima and states that meeting minimum requirements in no way guarantees admission.

Hey, I’m a student living outside North America. I’m a canadian citizen. I am an IB Student.

SAT Score: 1890
Unweighted Cumulative GPA: 3.7
IB Predicted Scores: Not Sure… But they shouldn’t be low…

I applied to the Neuroscience and Microbiology&Immunology programs and got rejected due to limited space available.

I also applied to the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and the Faculty of Science (Life Sciences, Biology, etc program). It says “Further Review Required.” The problem is that my GPA for my first semester of 12th grade (the GPA on my mid-year report) is around a 3.35…

What are my chances my getting in to McGill? (and will my Mid-Year report affect my chances of making it?)

I’m sorry to say this, but I go to a full IB school and we are told that McGill does not even consider anyone with less than 35 IB points not including TOK and EE.

NO WAY!!
I dont understand. Mcgill is supposed to have a ~50% acceptence rate!! and they don’t even consider anyone less than a 35?!? INSANE

1081736- I was wondering about that 50% acceptance rate too! But I guess we have to remember that it is a big school, which is why more people get accepted- however many competitive students are applying

Hi, I have not taken SATS yet, but I am taking them in the spring (I am a junior)

My weighted GPA is a 3.925 (bad I know) - But trust me it is going up to at least a 4.1 by the end of this year and even higher by end of 1st semester senior year.

I am unsure of my unweighted GPA, because our school does not show that in our transcripts for some reason.

Does Mc.Gill look more at weighted or unweighted GPAs?

ALSO: My class rank is 35 of 604, so I am at the brim of top 5 percentile. I am expecting this rank to improve as my GPA improves.

I am taking many AP classes including:
AP chemistry and AP European history : sophomore year
+
AP biology and AP English Language and composition : Junior year

My school has a biotechnology program which requires students to take a minimum of 7 science classes to graduate with an advanced “biotech” diploma rather than the normal 4 for the advanced diploma.

For SATs, I will not stop until I get 2000+

Am I on the right track for Mc.Gill? Any advice?

A reason for the relatively high acceptance rate is that about half of McGill’s undergraduates are from Quebec. All Quebec students pass through the CEGEP system. CEGEP’s are an entirely separate level of education after high school. (Quebec students graduate high school after grade 11!) The curriculum and grading standards are very standardiized in all CEGEP’s both French and English. I believe McGill computes something called the “R” score for each CEGEP student. If the student does not have a certain R score, they know not even to bother to apply to McGill.

UW GPA 3.5
SAT 2090
SAT II french 800
math 700
alumni letter of rec,
french AND american citizen
i know my stats are on the lower side of the acceptance realm but im hoping!
will the french citizenship/lettter help my chances?
i want to go to mcgill SO BADLY!
