My Chances

I was wondering what my chances are of getting into UC Riverside and I'm also going to try to get into UC Irvine but I don't think I have much of a chance there. I was planning on majoring in Electrical Engineering. Also I going to take the SAT again this October. I'm a Male Asian Indian with a low family income (under 60k a year).

GPA (unweighted and weighted): 3.51
SAT Reasoning Test Total: 1550
Critical Reading: 530
Mathematics: 530
Writing: 490
SAT Subject Tests:
Chemistry: 530
U.S. History: 580

I was going to take Math Level 2 but I was told it has Trig on it and I'm taking that my senior year. So what are my chances of getting in? Also are there any another UCs you think I can get into?

bump

I’d appreciate a chance. Thanks

Hi. It would help to see your courses, but going strictly by the numbers, which these schools tend to focus on, you should have a good shot, as your numbers are competitively in range for UC Riverside. For UC Irvine, you have a shot, but you need to bring up your SAT scores a bit to be in a comfortable range. If you can bring up your SAT scores by about 100 points, you should have a much better chance of acceptance at Irvine. By the way, these schools also focus very heavily on class rank, so you should be in the top 10% of your class to be competitive, or at least top 20%. Good luck. Please give me advice as well.

im sorry to burst your bubble, but you have zero shot at uc irvine. Just wanted to clear that up. You do have a shot at riverside. If you bring you SAT up 100 you would have a better shot there, but still no guarentee.

You should apply to merced and santa cruz, you should get into atleast one.

Alright thanks for the advice, hopefully I’ll be able to get my SAT scores up.
