Hi everyone,
My school has recently shut down for good. I am currently a sophomore. I have a cumulative GPA of a 2.7 that is going to go up to a 3.1 after I finish this semester. I am really looking at going to UTK because I will receive in-state tuition and that is my dream school. I am a triple major in Philosophy, Political Science, and Economics. I am also a triple minor in biology, psychology and business administration on the pre-law track. I was very involved in various clubs, and I am a collegiate female wrestler. I am nervous that my GPA is not competitive enough for UTK. During my freshman year I was a biology major with a pre-med concentration, and the last semester of my freshman year, I had a miscarriage, which was very devastating, both of my grandmas died and I failed chemistry. I re-evaluated my whole life and changed my major. Do you have a list of other schools that would find me competitive?
https://transfer.utk.edu/admissions/ suggests that some transfer applicants may be admitted to University of Tennessee Knoxville with 2.0 college GPA, although some majors that are filled to capacity are more selective.
Does your college have any guaranteed transfer arrangements set up? Many places that shut down do that as part of their closing process. If there are any arrangements like that, you will have a “safety” or two in case UTK doesn’t work out.
Contact the transfer admissions office at UTK. Ask for their help with your situation. UTK is operating semi-remotely right now like just about every other college and university in the country, but the staff is available by email and telephone. Fingers crossed for you. Go Vols!
