University of Tennessee Transfer

Hey everyone,

I am worried about applying to UT-Knoxville.
My background is I messed around in High School and got a 3.0-3.1 GPA.
I graduated early and went to the Navy where I served 6 years as a Nuclear Electronics Technician on board a Submarine.
I received many actual honors and achievements that were sizable to say the least.
Once I was honorably discharged I had applied to a university, that I will not name, and was denied purely based on my high school grades. To say the least, I was rather upset about it.
I sucked it up and enrolled in community college to show that I was dedicated to school. For the past year I have gone to school full time, worked full time, planned a wedding and got married, while earning a 3.4 GPA at my current school.
I would like to apply to UT-Knoxville for electrical engineering. Does any one have an idea on their acceptance criteria for transfer students? I am out of state. Very out of state.

Thanks for any help I really appreciate it.

Also, should I finish my Associates of Science at my current school or apply for the fall semester and hope for the best?

If you complete a full 60 credits at the CC, your high school transcripts will most likely be irrelevant to most schools you apply to. However, if you really want to go to UT as soon as possible and it is affordable, then apply now. hopefully you have several semesters of transcripts to show when you apply. Also, don’t put all your eggs in the UT basket. make sure you have a second school you are sure you will get into.

Thanks X-ray. I appreciate it.
