I apologize in advance for the long post.

I submitted my Common App to Chicago, the payment, and the Chicago supplement all on Saturday night. The Common App and payment were around 8 pm, and the supplement was around 11 pm. According to CommonApp.com, I've submitted all parts of my app; I got the confirmation email, and it even won't let me send the Common App because it tells me I already sent it.

Today, at 6:14 pm, I received an email from Chicago telling me that I submitted the supplement to the Common App, but not the Common App itself. Which REALLY freaks me out, because I applied Early Action!!! And according to CommonApp.com I did, but not according to Chicago's Admissions Office records.

I've already emailed my area representative, and intend to call him bright and early tomorrow morning.

However, the only thing I have as proof that I did indeed submit my Common Application is the e-mail I received from them around 6 am Sunday, because Common App was probably flooded with apps all day Saturday. So I only have proof that I submitted it on Nov 2. (I know, I shouldn't have waited until the last minute to submit it, but I was editing and re-editing and re-re-editing my essays) CommonApp.com used to say that I submitted both the Common App and the Chicago supplement on Nov 1, but after I went on to look at them today, it only tells me that I "downloaded" both on Nov 3 (today).

Is there anything else I should do? Did this happen to anyone else?

Happened to me. I'm trying not to worry about it, since I'm listed as a "first year early applicant" on their site. (Their words, not mine).

I'm guessing it's nothing to worry about. :)

(Still, if you're intending to call, I'd appreciate it if you inform us about what's going on.)

Nelthartion, where does it say that you are a "first year early applicant"? I'm logged into my UChicago account right now and looking around everywhere, but nowhere does it state my status as an applicant.

Try requesting an alumni interview. Off to the right, it'll say:

"Alumni Interview Request Deadline: Nov 3, 2008. You are applying as a first-year early action applicant."

I know it's not much to go on, but I'm just trying to convince myself it went through. Haha. I don't want to think about the alternative.

Oh! Yes, it tells me "You are applying as a first-year early action applicant" as well. So that makes me feel a little better.

And I'll definitely let you know how the call goes.

got the same thing... weird... but i scheduled for an interview and got a super fast reply for the director of the canadian region for U of C

Ok, good to know I'm not alone here, maybe it was just a glitch in the Common App's system. Hopefully this will work out and we'll all get nice fat packages from Chicago in about a month :]

Haha, let us hope.. and pray... i still gotta do my ACT TEST on friday... then im finally complete

I also got the same message. I'm figuring it's just a glitch.

~~UPDATE~~

I just called Chicago!!!!!

And they told me that as long as CommonApp.com says that the app is "Downloaded", we can ignore the email. Even if said "Dowloaded" date is past November 3rd, that doesn't matter, it only reflects when Chicago downloaded the app, not the timestamp on us submitting the app.

So it's all good :)

And good luck on your ACTs, Ambitiousteen!

Yah just got an e-mail from the college of admissions. They said it was common app flaw.

Thanks Spazzity, i really need that 34+

Happened to me too, but I got the correction email today (right before I had planned to call them, actually). I freaked out so much last night, but I feel better now because I'm 100% done with all the application stuff (faxed tax returns yesterday -- woohoo!).
