How bad would it be if he wrote my college letter of recommendation? Not because I want my dad to write my letter but because he is an amazing writer. Is that even legal? I mean he would be writing it from the prospective as my principal of course. After suffering for seven years as my father being my principal (he was my principal in middle school too) dont I deserve some sort of benefits form this?

I think most institutions require that letters of recommendation come from non family members, regardless of their title.

Wow, that must suck.

I would have him write a supplementary letter. I homeschool my son -- and homeschoolers are familiar with letters of recommendation by family members. for homeschoolers, the parents writes the letter of recommendation that a guidance counselor would normally write.

I normally wouldn't recommend a parents write the letter -- but in your case, I don't think it would hurt and might make your application memorable. Just make sure it is a supplementary and the other recommendations are sent in.

^^ agreed. It'd be a good idea to do it as a supplement, considering his writing skills / knowledge as a school principal.

That's actually pretty cool.
