My Dad works here..

My father is a part-time professor at PSU York since last Summer. I am attending PSU Mont Alto next Fall. Is there any way he could pull some strings and I can get some kind of reduction in tuition or any other benefit financially at all? Or go for free? (lol i wish)

Who should I contact about this? On the UMD College Park app, it asked me if my I'm a child of an employee but I see no such thing on the Penn State website.

I found a guy on Yahoo Answers who claimed he benefited from his mother working and is only paying $7000/ year. Unfortunately I can't message him since he is suspended:

And also, I live like an hour from Mont Alto campus and kind of near Pennsylvania. IS there anyway I can qualify for in-state tuition?

Full time faculty and staff receive a 75% tuition reduction for all children until 1st bachelor’s degree. Not sure about part time.

SCbob I just found that info, thanks. Dang I really wish there was a way to make that work for part-time. Should I just submit the application anyways? Maybe they will have a little mercy and bend that rule?

Or maybe there could be a way that he could become a full-time Online professor for online classes? Would that be possible?? A 75% discount is way too good to pass up.

Sorry, but you can’t qualify for in-state tuition unless you have residency. It’s not how close you are, but the fact that it’s a state school and the people here have been paying for them through their taxes.

If one of your parents is a full time Penn State employee it doesn’t matter where you live you receive in state tuition and the 75% discount. See Penn State Policy HR 37 Grant in aid for Dependents.
