My daughter's stats - possible to get into PSU Altoona?

They're not so hot, I know. And since PSU doesn't superscore, they are even worse than they would have been.

1460 SAT, 2.86 GPA UW. She'll be applying within the next week or two.

I know Altoona is one of the more popular branch campuses because they have dorms and are close to University Park. Does she even have a shot?

Yes, she has a shot. 35% of the freshmen at PSU Altoona have between a 2.5 and 2.99 GPA. My friends son was admitted last year with a 2.3. The branch campuses are much easier than the Main Campus. My daughter applied on 9/1 to the Main Campus. We haven’t heard anything yet. University Park for fall was her first choice, University Park for summer was second, and Altoona is her alternate campus. Good luck!

Thanks! She would have loved to get the main campus, but we’re not delusional. lol

I’m curious - the friend’s son admitted with a 2.3. Do you have any idea what his SATs were?

I do not. I didn’t ask, lol…I was surprised he was admitted actually, but when you look at collegeboard.com a full 12% of those admitted had under a 2.5. But then again, I don’t know what their situation or SAT’s were. According to the chart we were given at an admissions event at main campus, the middle 50% GPA for all branch campuses is 2.94-3.46 and SAT of 1450-1680. Remember that’s the middle 50% and not cut offs. So 25% had higher stats and 25% had lower.
