Accepted in Altoona but not UP

Hey guys, I only got accepted into Penn State Altoona. My stats are nothing great, 3.1(freshman and sophomore year slacker) GPA, 25 ACT, some EC's like clubs. Anyway I'm not bummed, I'm a PA resident so I just applied to Penn State to see what would happen. My first choice is actually Ohio University, and I've been accepted there, so all is good! Anyways I just wanted to show my stats as a rejected students because all I've seen was stats for accepted students. I hope this helps some people who are wondering if they will get in or not. Good luck to all!!

Fuzzy24, thanks for posting. I’m glad you are not bummed and are excited about getting accepted to your first choice. As a parent, I appreciate your post as a point of reference for my son who applied to Penn State in September and still has not heard. His stats are similar to yours. He got accepted to Pitt and if he gets accepted to Altoona instead of UP he said he will go to Pitt. I am curious if you applied to a particular major?

Momto5: I applied as undecided, so no particular major. I’m glad this helped, even if he doesn’t get into UP, Pitt is an excellent school anyway! Good luck to you and your son!

Fuzz-My husband and I are graduates from OU, a more beautiful campus you’d be hard-pressed to find. First University built west of the Apalacians with Cobble stone streets and gorgous brick buildings. My son applied to a lot of schools and prefers OU to Penn State. Mostly because PSU has soooooo many kids from his school attending (he said it’s like going to Rutgers) I like the idea of him going PSU because he wants a large big-10 like campus and it’s soooooooo much closer than say, Purdue! It all works out, PSU is getting crazy competitive and he more than lkiely won’t get in (since he was a reluctant applicant an alternative campus wasn’t an option) , OU doesn’t have a huge football program, but plenty of school spirit any given Fall saturday! Thanks for your honest post and best wishes!

Imanicollegehelp:thanks for your post! I actually just visited OU and now I’m sure it’s the school for me! While I’m not big on sports, a big ten school was not needed for me, but I wanted a fairly large student body, so OU was perfect. Many students from my high school also attend Penn State. Anyway, thanks again and best wishes to you and your son!

my cousin goes to osu and loves it…good luck

I’m happy that your cousin loves OSU, however the OP is considering Ohio University not tOSU.

Franball: Yeah it’s actually just Ohio University not Ohio State University, but thanks anyway!

Out of curiosity, did you apply for summer or fall for PSU?

I applied for fall 2011 but I checked the option that asked if I would like to be considered for the summer session.
