Hello parents! I have finally made my decision of where to spend my next four years. First of all, I wanted to thank all of you for helping me make this difficult decision- all of your wonderful and wise information helped me tremendously. :)

As some of you may know, I was trying to decide between Berkeley (in-state) and Georgetown.

Today, I decided, and my check is in the mail... headed to:

Calidan, I have been biting my tongue, waiting to see what you would decide. I think you have made a terrific decision and I am so excited for you! Good luck in D.C. --- hope you come back to California some day and run for govenor!

scma - I am also a parent of a georgetown student.
She is very glad that she made the decision to go there vs. UVA. She is actually staying on campus this summer and has a job in the admissions office! She loves the city and will never never live in a small town again (not that our town is small but by comparison....)

She loves the culture, the different foods, lots of things to do and the classes. Yes!!!
Example - she and her roommate stayed on campus for spring break. They went to the museums and then spent a day they called Africa Day. They went to see Hotel Rawanda and then had Ethopian food. How cool is that!? She has been to the Diplomatic Ball, trick or treating on Embassy Row - the French Embassy gave out the best candy she said! Colin Powell has come to speak and some other well known politicians. Not many colleges can give you an experience like that. For International Relations/SFS that is the place to be. One of her friends is going to be an intern at the Pentagon this summer - nice gig for a 19 year old.

Dan, Congrats. I've been with you on Georgetown since the EA days, and suprised when Cal became such a contender (though I understand the financial aspect all too well). Based on your varied interests that I know include Policital Science (maybe), French, Business, and possibly some IR type major, I think you made the right choice for yourself. GU has so much to offer - I know my daughter can't wait until August either! Congrats again.

Calidan - One of my D's best friends from high school will be there with you. She is a bright, funny, loyal friend of a girl. Have fun! Congrats!
