somebody stole my dorm keys. the 100$ replacement is hella expensive so idk if i want to do that. what can i do?

You’re going to have to pay it sooner or later since returning the keys is part of your check out procedure. If the keys are not turned in, then you will be assessed the fee.

Go speak with your housing coordinator as soon as possible and explain the situation. They will find out eventually and it would be better to do this now and not attempt to hide it.

lol.

you have to pay. it was stolen. it was YOUR responsibility.

ive always wondered, are the dorm keys at ucsc actual keys or key cards?

Both. Some use real keys, some use our UCSC ID cards as keys. It just depends on the building.

Porter’s dorm buildings use the ID cards to gain access to the buildings and to gain access to our individual rooms (plus a passcode).

When I stayed in the 10 dorms over the summer, access to the building was via ID cards, but the rooms used real keys.

Thanks Kender
