Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):
1) co-founded an international and domestic organization HOPE, which sends supplies (clothing, bedding, toiletries, etc) to orphans in haiti and (eventually) costa rica. I really hope this could be the thing that compensates for my average/lower scores and makes me stand out. It started in my freshman year with a few drives to collect the stuff and currently has spread to elite private schools across the nation. I brought it into the camp where i work (the color war). Kids brought in supplies for points for their team lol (yay creativity!) and i did the same thing with my school's color war. One of the other founders went to costa rica and is trying to open connections to an orphanage there. But yeah we've collected tons of boxes, enough to fill a shipping container, and it's being sent to Haiti soon by this family we starting talking with. We have a legit website and everything (which im not putting on here, sorry!! haha im paranoid) and yeah.
2) Art! I'm in AP studio art and have had my paintings/drawings exhibited in 2 places (one of them in a university, another in a gallery) and have won a national award, hoping for some more awards later?. This one really is my passion. I'm the vice president of the national art honor society and gave a presentation on working with acrylic paint.
3) Fit and Fun, working with kids with special needs teaching them to get active and have good social skills. Every sunday for 4 months at a time at a local community center. I did this cause i have an autistic cousin and I knew how hard it is to have those problems and I kinda wanted to do it for him i guess . I couldn't do it this year though cause SAT tutoring is at the same time, but i'm doing it again next year.
4) Yearbook editor in chief, made the entire yearbook for 2 years cause all of the other members dropped out -_____- lol. but it's been a really big job making it for all 12 grades of my school
5) NHS (helped organize our chapter's MS walk team), Key club editor (writing about activities our chapter had done), operation smile (helped make blankets for kids after surgery)

Job/Work Experience: Worked at a summer camp where I used to go every summer since 9th grade. I've done a variety of things there from helping in the office (answering phone calls, filing, helping parents, etc) to working with nursery-school aged kids

Volunteer/Community service: See extracurricular activities

Summer Activities: Summer camp job^, SAT Course, Shabbaton committee- working with other students at my school to plan the school's annual vacation, working on HOPE

Essays: Writing about my mom with MS and my father who passed away and how it affected me and gave me a newfound drive and appreciation for life. Just finished it -- honestly going to be one of my strongest points!

Teacher Recommendation: 2 AP teachers, us history and enviro- hope both will be really good
Counselor Rec: Our school is moronic and they've decided to get a new counselor next year so I'll have to be nice to her I guess LOL
Additional Rec: maybe art teacher
Interview: idk yet

You should be fine for UF, UCF, and probably Emory. What you need to consider though, is that at the competitive Ivies, everyone has some huge hook. I’m not sure how much your program will be considered, but anything helps.

Your life story is probably much more beneficial – overcoming a situation like that. Make sure you send in a visual art supplement if you think you’re talented enough that it would make a difference.

I would predict that you have a chance of getting into Harvard, Princeton, Penn, Vanderbilt, and/or Duke. I’m pretty sure that Princeton likes kids who provide service to their communities (volunteering, FOUNDING an organization). If you get your SAT score up to 2300+, I would hope that you’ll get into one of those three Ivies.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1527524-chance-me-ivies-lacs-athletic-recruit-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I have no doubt you will get into everything you are applying to with the exception to harvard. The thing about Harvard is thousands of qualified people get denied but you have a great shot

Chance me back http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1526768-chances-ucb-ucla-usc-nyu-uom-uiuc-unc-ch-uva-stanford.html</a></p>

There is so much misinformation on the “Chance Me” forum…

“I’m pretty sure that Princeton likes kids who provide service to their communities (volunteering, FOUNDING an organization).”

Wrong. Every kid I meet who claims to have founded an org I ask: “What about the existing orgs in your town/school failed in what you expended your energy to re-invent the wheel?”

then ajrgcpro has “no doubt” about getting into Princeton and Duke but NO to Harvard – as if they’re so much more lax about admitting students.

Rule #1. Don’t ask anyone to “Chance Me”

Rule #2. If you disobey rule #1 and the reply is from another HS student who asks you to “Chance Me back”, then you know it’s more than worthless.
