My EC Problem

Ok, well as a junior who badly wants to attend Rice Unversity for college I have grown somewhat worried about my ECs. I have tried extremely hard to demonstrate through my Ec's that I have a strong passion in medicine. However, I am from a small school in NE where there were literally no ways to get involved in science directly thru my school. So, I basically fought with school administators for a year before they finally let me create my school science club at the beginning of this year. Again, however, the administrators restricted my club to only doing science olympiad studies this year, and if all goes well I can branch out and have the club do more things next year. Thus, while I probably will attain a few awards for olympiad this year and will be researching at my state medical ceneter, I have a serious dearth of science ECs. I also have like 4 leadership positions at various other clubs and have a handful of awards, but is this good enough to attend schools in the top tier. Additionally, I am also going to compete in both USABO next year and some science fairs (with the research I do at my medical center), but all this would be after I submit my applicant, so does doing those things even benifit my changes of getting into schools like Rice?

Best Regards,
Robbie

To have successfully negotiated with an administration like that could be very impressive to colleges, depending on how you describe this on your app. Could make an excellent essay that reflects your leadership, character, passion, and what you've learned from that process of starting the club.
