Running a blog can be an EC if you are committed to it (i.e. you regularly post articles about your passions and interests that ultimately show who you are). To answer the more general question on your ECs, IMO, it’s always important to zoom in and specialize on a “theme.” If you love literature, your ECs should revolve around that subject. What I can see from your current EC list is a well-rounded student with many interests, ranging from forensics to art and literature. Try to paint a more coherent picture of yourself. Of course, well-roundedness is important, but you need that extra spike to make yourself stand out from the rest of the applicant pool. Best of luck!
Thank you for the advice!
You attend school til 3 pm each day, then have 6+ hours per day of free time, and maybe 12 hours each day on weekends, totaling maybe 50 hours. What are you doing with that time? Homework for some of it, certainly. What about the rest? Part-time job, sports, music?
That’s great so far! Join some similar things to showcase your passion such as Speech and Debate, School Newspaper, etc. Also, sports are always great. Showing that you can balance athletics with clubs and school is a plus.
