According to Henry David Thoreau, "One is not born into the world to do everything, but to do something." What is your something?

Thiis was my essay question. I feel like I'm bragging when I write how I'm going to help this world. Any tipss?

By writing about how you’re going to help the world, it sounds as though you’re saying that you’ll be able to achieve a lot of things, which goes against the essay prompt. Realistically, no one alone is capable of “saving the world” and everything, you know what I mean :)?

How about writing about something that you’re not really good at, talk about how it used to bother you that you weren’t good at it, but now you realize that it doesn’t matter anymore because you find passion and your niche in something else and accept the fact that you have weaknesses but you’ll still be able to contribute to the world? It would be even better if the two are related in some way. This way you inject a sense of self-knowledge and humility into the essay but you’re also able to talk about your strength. Just an idea. Good luck!

Write about how you’re going to help the world, but mention you need ‘their’ (Name of school you’re applying to).Be specific with what you write, this type of essay also fits in with ‘why’ this school is a perfect match for you. Best of luck.

Pick one way you “hope to” help the world.
I’d modify calico’s post to say: by writing about how you’re going to help the world, you risk coming off as untested. The only way around that is to pick something you have done, that has helped someone or some situation and build upon that.

Don’t ^ kiss up. Turns them off. If they have any version of a Why Us" essay, that’s where you focus on how you and the school match.
