Bragging?

My essay was based on my life long struggle that how I was I a below average student and how I grew into a bright one. I basically discussed the problems, my wants, my motivations, and the acheivements they led to.

Do you think that this will be categorized as bragging? In a way, I feel uncomfortable about it now.

It all depends on how you wrote it.

princessbell is right. If you were like "OMG I have, like, a 4.0/2400 now and I'm so much smarter than everyone else that it's like ridiculous" at the end, yes, it's bragging. If you discussed your personal growth throughout your academic career without making excuses or being haughty, you're fine.

Right, as long as you didn't go extensively into what you did, or why you are so impressive. It may be a good idea, in my opinion, to focus more on the struggle and motivation than the accomplishments to counter that. How is it structured?

Well. The essay is a reflection. It is about a true event in which I realised that how I have been made what I am by different factors (my passions and OTHER people around me). It is about how I wanted to excel in my passions and get recognition in a competitive environment. It was a mixture of personal ambition, duty, and influence of other people on me.

btw, I don't have a 2400 or a 4.0 - and I knew that all the way.

that's what mine was about, except it was mostly shaped by family issues: death, divorce.
