I haven't recieved mine yet either. I did get an e-mail saying I wasn't eligable for financial aid and would be recieving an award letter for loans later on, though. waiiiiiits

How come you're not eligible? I thought all US Citizens and Permanent Residents are eligible for financial aid. Or did they said you're not eligible to receive grants? I hope that's not my case since my EFC is 0 and I'm really counting on getting some grants.

Oops, sorry, I shouldn't be allowed on the computer before 9am. I meant that I'm not eligable for need based aid. :)

It's okay :)
Did they say why you were not eligible for need-based aid? Did you expect not the receive any need based aid?

They say my EFC meets the cost of the tuition... which is bull, but you know how those things are. I didn't expect very much anyway, though. My parents fall into that annoying middle-class window -- we make too much to qualify for much need based aid, but too little to actually pay the tuition out of pocket.

Thankfully I'm instate.

Alinush, essentially need-based aid is awarded only usually to out-of-state students who cannot contribute to the full tuition without having a real bank breaker. Most in-state students will not get need-based grants, simply because they have the money to pay.

That's good to know in my case, but what about the award notification? Wasn't it supposed to arrive by this time? I mean, in a month I have to decide which school to go to but I don't have the financial figures.

I've gotten my financial-aid letter, it came on March 31 for me. I didn't get an e-mail, even though all they offered me were loans.

My award letter came yesterday, it was sent on March 20 but it took a while to get to Romania (2 weeks).

Anyways, I got two grants totaling 8731$, two loans totaling 7500$, and a parent loan of 20565$. That's a total of 35,796$ of aid.

I'm probably not going to attend because there's no way my parents can pay 20000$ per year. Where I come from, the average salary per month is 450$, what were they thinking?

Good luck to everyone else :)

I got my award letter a week or so ago. They only offered me a $518 Loan for an entire year because they think my parents are going to contribute $19,000 My mom switched careers and she's now making a lot more than she used to so i guess that's why. Too bad they don't look a little more in depth into family situations. All the extra money my mom makes now goes towards paying off stuff from when we didn't make as much.

Oh well.. I'll be working my ass off this summer to make some money.

same here bjm121, they definitely don't take family situations and other expenses into account, all they see is how much money you can make and currently have, not where it goes or what else we need it for.
