"My financial aid packet is complete"

So my mommy called the undergrad office because it said online they didn't receive my CSS profile. It has been updated to say they did, but she's anal so she called anyways. When she talked to the woman in the office they told her that "My financial aid packet was complete."

Now, does the admissions office assemble financial aid packets regardless of acceptance status. For example, if they plan on rejecting you, why would they still calculate a number for how much you are going to have to pay.

It could just be wishful thinking but I am hoping it was a slip-up. For now it just makes me feel a little more confident, but I am not sure how the financial aid office works. Seems a little inefficient to assemble a packet for everyone that applies...

That would be cool, but maybe the person misspoke and didn't mean packet as in acceptance packet, but packet as in all the stuff you needed to have in? Just a thought.

I'm inclined to agree with coretto joe.

yea i was thinking the same as you joe, but my mom asked after "does that mean hes accepted" and she replied with a "we can't disclose that info." sooo maybe its just a mistake but who knows.. well find out soon enough :-/

That's makes me so anxious haha, it sounds like they have the decisions all lined up when they say they can't "disclose" things---just gimme an answerrrrrwa89yhg523rwe.

lol... u get an A for creativity ....haven't seen this one before (i bet next wk there'll be a thread about stalking DHL as there is every year)

sorry to say though that you shouldn't read very much into this at all. First of all the financial aid office and admissions office are separate. Second - columbia typically does not give you a financial aid package right away, as in it doesn't arrive with the acceptance package.

also financial aid is determined by ur 2008 tax returns and forms which havent come in yet so they wont actually get ur package done until u send those in...
