My First Lil' Dorm Room!

So, since I'm idly sitting here hoping to find out about roommates...

What's everyone bringing for the dorm? Favorite pictures? Special blanket? Posters? Fridge? Plasma screen 50" TV?? lol

Any advice on what NOT to bring?

I'm bringing photos of the family, friends, and cat that I will miss so much. I have no idea about the walls. I hate cheesy posters I do not want to spend the money for $200.00 prints.

I'm bringing a 27 inch television. I think it might be too big. I have a backup that's smaller.

I'm bringing a mini fridge, and an espresso maker that will probably end up being pointless, but hey, it was a gift. Also, a microwave if I don't get the roommate I requested, who said she would be bringing one.

I'm bringing a lot of clothes because I'm a psychopath. My dad is trying to sneak flip flops out of my 'packing' shoe box because he doesn't agree with my massive collection.

I will bring all the other normal 'stuff' for the bathroom and classroom.

I have an amazing bed set. I 'm also bringing a 5 headed floor lamp. Clark Kerr is large.

I have three special stuffed animals - a glowworm, a koala, and a stitch. I will probably bring them all. I wish I could bring my kittie.

<3,

Izzie Bear

omg! Glowworms :)

I'm really proud of the ecclectic bedset I put together this summer and the matching accessories to go with.

I'm bringing a cute little fridge (with magnets) and posters to put on that weird wall thing in the Units. I just made my own French memo board last night (which I recommend to everyone as a "going away to college party" with friends).

Should I bring a vaccum and cleaning supplies and all that junk? Or can I find that in an obscure broom closet somewhere?

Since my dorm room is considerably smaller than IzzieBear's Mansion at CKC :) I'm bringing a blanket, comforter, two sheet sets, a pillow, my clothes, a desk lamp, shower flip flops, a pen holder that a family gave to me in Australia, my printer, my laptop, hangers, typical bathroom stuff, and some pictures or not; depends if I scan them onto my computer or not.

I'll get my microwave and mini-fridge over there (or hope that my roommate lives near Cal so that I don't have to worry about storage).

Oo. I'm also bringing magnets. Those word ones, that you can pair up into sentences. The 'dirty' edition. Let's hope I get the right roommate and not one that's easily offended.

I didn't include everything I'm bringing thats a given -laptop, printer etc..but yeah, that's all comin'.

I'm excited about the size of CK, but weary of the distance.

Wow... Im bringing a lot of stuff. Yesterday I went to Target and stocked up on Shampoo, Body Wash, school supplies, etc. That came to a grand total of more than $100... sigh.

Im also bringing all the bedding stuff, a desk lamp, a clip on lamp for my bed, all my clothes, books for 2 classes, a hamper, a bathrobe, hangers, and everything else you can imagine.

Im waiting to find out who my roommate is and talk to her before I buy a fridge, microwave, or tv, but I plan on having all three between the 2 of us. I wish they would flippin tell us already.

This whole 'dorm shopping' is sure costing a lot of money. We have already spent a few hundred dollars and we're not done yet. Since I've lived at home with my mummy and daddy all my life, I have never had my own supply of shampoo, much less a fridge.

I'm going clothes shopping tomorrow. This is the first time my parents have agreed to fund 'back to school shopping' in a long time. I'm going to ride the wave of freebies as long as possible.

Target is the place to get dorm stuff. Love it.

<3,

I took care of clothes shopping in Singapore. They have so many deals there for the best of things.

My clothes, lappy, poster, lamp, Xbox, microwave, maybe a mini-fridge and a tv.

do we need a lamp? when i went to calso there was a desk lamp in the dorms.

I dont know, my CalSo didnt include dorms (damn that condensed transfer calso) but it says we need a desk lamp on the housing website.

Yeah, bring a lamp. It's listed under Move-In FAQ's.

aww, xbox!!! Let me visit you... I know I'm going to have withdrawls.

Anyway, now that we know who we're rooming with (assuming we actually get to talk to them) we can coordinate and totally match our rooms down to the cute-sy shower flip-flops sarcasm sarcasm

I wanna see how much stuff I can fit in my dorm so I can bring my costumes and sewing machine... Those late nighters will totally inspire something.

hey eiffelguy, i'm just curious, how do you a family from australia

I'm going to go buy a couple of fits today, other than that I guess ill just bring a desk lamp, my computer and I guess thats it

nbanyk: I was in Australia two weeks ago visiting family. There, I met a family friend and they gave me an Aussie penholder as a small gift.

oh cool, i was in australia last summer playing with an orchestra

What part of Australia?

melbourne, sydney, a small place called proserpine, and townsville (went up north the eastern coast)

I was in Western Australia. I stayed in Perth. I want to study at the University of Melbourne or University of Sydney.
