My.fordham.edu Financial Aid

My D was accepted EA in November. We filed the FAFSA with the student service provided by Fordham. We've now signed our FAFSA. When my D logs into the my.fordham portal, she sees an admitted student tab. She clicks on that and then sees a link to financial aid where you are supposed to view your awards and do other things. But when she clicks on that link, it has her FIDN student number in the login box, but we don't have a PIN to put in the PIN box. There is a red message under it saying that the information is not available and to call the financial aid office. I did and after being transferred to IT and then to enrollment, I was told simply the information was probably not available. That's okay with me, I guess. But I'm wondering if anyone else who was admitted is able to get a PIN and view the Financial aid section

I received a small folder from Fordham about 3 weeks ago informing me of my approximate financial aid award, nothing about the online PIN or such. You should call and ask.

Yes, I received that same packet. I think I’m just jumping the gun…I think we will get a PIN when they officially process our FAFSA and make their final offer. I was just concerned when no one up there seemed to be able to say with assurance “You can’t access that yet.” FA seemed confused, as did IT and then Enrollment. It seemed like an easy question!

Its a bit unusual to apply to a school without asking for financial aid, then asking for financial aid after you are admitted. Some schools really frown on that. I dont know what your circumstances are/were, so not judging. Just saying.

Be patient on financial aid. They have 35,000-37,000 applications (anticipated) this year in the complete admissions cycle and about 40%-42% expected admit rate, meaning 14,000 people need some indication of financial aid. ( Though the expected entering class will be 1,800 or so.) Fordham’s financial aid office is staffed with student workers as well, who don’t always have all the salient facts in front of them (phone responders.) And financial aid is not one of Fordham’s strengths, sorry to say.

I have no idea when they will complete your FAFSA full analysis, but I am certain they will require 2012 tax returns completed and submitted, so you can start doing that right now in the meantime. What is certain is that by April 1, you will know what the situation is, to give you the month of April to decide between offers from schools prior to the May 1 drop dead date. :-)

Fordham is a great school in a fabulous location providing incredulous opportunities for its students and graduates. But it is very expensive.

I think you’ve misunderstood. We applied EA asking for financial aid and did receive some aid. I just wanted to know how to access the Financial aid section of the my Fordham portal. It says there is an error and to call financial aid. I did, but they seemed confused. I’m not worried. Just wondering if anyone else is able to access that link.

also unable to login to the financial aid site. We have received nothing regarding financial aid yet despite submitting all the forms so you are one step ahead of us.

kt: sorry for the confusion. Glad you clarified.

We are in the same boat.

The financial aid portal seems to suggest that you can log in but you can’t 'coz you need a PIN, which even if you filled out the CSS and/or the FAFSA you cannot get (presumably until the financial aid decisions are in). All in all, this part of the portal is confusing.

Same experience here.
