I have a relative going thru this with a child. This young man transferred to a new school this year…he’s almost 21 years old…so he’s not as young as some situations described.

The son doesn’t want to outright admit that he “hates” his college because he misses his GF, but it is obvious…the school is a fab one (I’ve visited a couple of times). He keeps saying that he hates the school and that people are “stuck on themselves” and they “brag about themselves all the time.”

At his previous college, this student and his GF could be together all the time…now it’s only texts and phone calls…not the same.

It’s hard to know what the right advice is… When a student is determined to be miserable and not really try, what can a parent/relative advise?
