My Goals - Chances?

Hey, I'm currently a sophomore in MD and I was wondering if I have chances at University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, NYU, or UVA with these stats:

GPA = 2.9 - I know it's terrible but I'm taking the hardest courses possible and I'm still rank 28 out of 340...which is surprising...guess my school is just stupid.

EC's = Treasurer of Rotary Interact, President of Sophomore Class, Varsity Tennis and Cross Country, Mock Trial, and Model UN.

Extra things: I have done CTY (Center for Talented Youth) since the 2nd grade. It's hosted by Johns Hopkins and students with exceptional SAT/ACT scores are the only ones accepted. So far, my highest score on the SAT has been a 2210, this year. I have received a bunch of awards for commitment and achievement freshman year too.

Plus, since I'm Indian, does that factor into the percentage?

Could answerers please post possibility of acceptance in order/provide any colleges which
meet my criteria (GPA will def. improve since right now I have a psycho chem teacher).

since you are a soph, i recommend do really good this year and junior and senior year, but have fun, write a awesome essay when its time to write ur personal essays, omg great score though, is 2.9 your cummlative or semester. good luck and keeping doing your ec

cumulative btw. thanks, my school doesn’t have + or - on the grades so if i get straight a’s onwards how much do you think my gpa will improve by?

i recommend taking ap classes and honors cause A in a ap classes is 5 points, during your junior year and senior year take a lot of ap classes make sure you do ec and community service, and do community service for something that you like to do, you want to be a well rounded person,
for your personal essay
if you were born in america, if not then you write about your experience as an indian immigrant, if your born in america, my suggests write about being a indian american, but you have a long time till colleges apps

Your GPA will probably go up. But your SAT score is good, and ECs are good. Work on your essay. Johns Hopkins will obviously be the hardest to get into - but you will still be competitive.

Being Asian does not really help because of Affirmative Action; it can only hurt you. If possible, when indicating your race, choose the option where you prefer not to disclose it.

GPA really needs to go up. From now on, in order to greatly increase your chances at Johns Hopkins (from 10% to 30%-40%), you need to get at least a 3.7 GPA your sophomore, junior, and senior years, preferably 3.8 and above.

Work hard!!!
