My Grant Disappeared!

I don't know what happened, but originally I had about $11,000 in a UCSD grant, but when I went to confirm my financial aid all it said was a $14,000 PLUS loan. (And a $5,500 student loan.)

I know I filled out all the online verification worksheets. I have never been notified to complete or print out a worksheet to be sent by snail mail.

My family is really poor, so we can't afford to pay back all the loans without interest piling up. I'm trying to contact the Financial Aid office, but apparently they are only open 1-4:30PM on weekdays.

Can someone explain what could have caused the grant to disappear? Is there any other way to contact them quickly?

Is it too late? :[

It is never too late if you are certainly sure that you filled out the forms, and that you indeed received the grant. Wait until Monday, remain calm and call the office then. If they don’t answer, keep calling and calling. Contact the highest officer in the department on this if you want a quick reply. They will be there to answer your call :)

Did you print a copy of the grant award from the FA email they may have sent you or do you have the snil mail FA award letter with the grant listed? Always make/keep copies in your files.

Call and ask, Tbone is right, print a copy as you go along. I have seen UCs make errors which would never have been caught if the student or parent had not made a copy of the initial award

The records are online. It’s probably best to print things out.

I’m trying to contact the finaid office right now.

I’ve emailed them on the website and their actual e-mail, and I’m trying to get a call in.

Apparently it takes an average of 43 calls to make it through.

I have the same problem, what happened?

So I called the Financial Aid office. My problem was I never sent in the financial aid verification form. I sent it and I received my grant back. I originally had a 12,000 grant, now it is 11,433 and I also received my work study. I hope you resolve your problem.
