I applied to a couple schools but I'm thinking I need a couple safety schools. I want to live in the east coast, somewhere in PA or NY.

UC Riverside
UC Santa Barbara
UC Berkeley
UC Davis
New York University
Fordham University
Syracuse University
Boston University

I'm needing to finish up my last ones and so far:
Michigan State
SUNY New Paltz
SUNY Stony Brook
Marist
UMichigan

I was going to do CUNY but I heard it's not the college life you want, are there any other SUNY's, good schools in New York I should look into good shot for my stats and major?

My planned major is journalism which is why I'm doing New Paltz and Stony Brook, alternate being film and media studies. What do you guys think?

Well, I probably wouldn’t recommend NYU because they do NOT accept AP credit, so all your hard work would pretty much go to waste. The top schools for journalism in the U.S. are:

University of Missouri-Columbia

Columbia University

Northwestern University

University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill

University of Indiana-Bloomington

University of Florida

Ohio University-Scripps

University of Wisconsin-Madison

University of California- Berkeley

University of Kansas-White

University of Maryland- College Park

University of Texas- Austin

Syracuse University- Newhouse

Arizona State University-Cronkite

University of Minnesota- Twin Cities

If you’re still not sure you should check out U.S. News and World Report. Good Luck!

My son is a student at SUNY New Paltz, so I could answer any questions you might have about that school. I have also visited Marist and went to NYU and Syracuse back in the day. If I can help, let me know.

Fordham is an excellent choice for communications /journalism majors . The campus is beautiful and the internship program is outstanding.

Some of your choices are pretty far from New York. Are you thinking of schools that have proximity to New York City or schools that are in New York State? If you want schools with proximity, you might want to consider some NJ schools, like Drew or Rutgers, where you can visit easily on weekends by train, but have a campus atmosphere.
