So I got an email about about two months back for an interview with a Duke alumni, but I told my interviewer I wouldn't be able to make it to the date she originally proposed. She responded and said that it was okay, and that she would get back to me once the second batch of interviews began rolling. That was about 3 to 4 weeks ago, and I still haven't heard back from her...should I ask her why it's taking so long, or should I just wait it out?

^I would contact her again.

Definitely contact her again ASAP. Interviews must be completed by Feb 15, so there’s not a lot of time.

Uh oh…if she still doesn’t respond back before Feb 15, will that count against me?

If she still doesn’t contact you by that date, I would either call or email to duke admissions office. Just explain the situation in a formal and respectful manner and make sure you don’t sound like you’re whining/complaining. I think that should be enough to at least ensure that it doesn’t count against you.

^If you do end up sending that letter, you should also emphasize your interest in Duke. Declined interviews are generally treated as a lack of interest by the admissions office and while your situation is clearly different, it wouldn’t hurt to reaffirm that you still want to go to Duke.
