I was contacted for an interview mid-February, and the interviewer left a message. I called her back on her cell phone and left a message because she wasn't there. That was the last contact we had. I'm not too happy with myself for not calling her again or pursuing the interview more seriously. Maybe she just didn't get my message. Does this mean I'll probably be rejected for supposedly refusing an interview?

Doesn’t matter now. Don’t waste your time worrying about it, go do something to keep your mind occupied!

The absolute worst thing to do while waiting for decisions is to go over your applications and worry about all the things that could’ve been better and whatnot. You’ve already done your part, and there’s nothing you can change now, so none of that matters anymore.

Mapleleaf, don’t worry about the interview. I do alumni interviews for Duke and they are a very minimal part of the application process, given very little weight and I’m sure this won’t count against you. I do apologize about your experience - the interview is meant to be a positive, so I’m sorry it turned out to be a negative for you. But don’t worry that it will hurt your chances for acceptance at Duke.

To be honest, it’s too late to be overly concerned about it now. Just remember that the admissions committee accepts TONS of applicants who did not have an interview at all. I hope you [and I] get in!

You have no chance now, you screwed up, have fun at community college.
