My IPOD video hasnt been working for the past two weeks or so and im starting to get worried. What happens is that I connect the Ipod to the laptop with the chord (its the same one my mom uses to connect her nano to her computer dunno if that makes a difference) and the apple lights up on the ipod and it never does anything else. It doesnt show as recognized on the computer either. Anyone have any ideas???

There is an Apple Rep on the Penn Thread or http://www.methodshop.com/mp3/ipodsupport/diagnosticmode/

take it to the garage and smash it to bits with a hammer.

or....

if you have a warranty just get it switched.

You could always eat it.

Oh I had this problem with my nano.
I'm not a computer person so I'm not sure how to explain it properly. You know how the little icon thing (grey thing with a green arrow) comes on, on the bottom right corner when you plug somthing into the computer with the USB cable?

With my ipod, the icon stopped popping up---only for my ipod. it popped up for everything else that i connected with a usb cable.

And the problem was that the 'usb port was disconnected/disabled'. I dont know what a port is. But I went through the step-by-step Windows Help thingee (on windows xp) and that helped me... It shows you how to get the computer to recognise your ipod through a 'port' (?). Sorry that this is kinda vague...
