My officer problem

Hey guys,

Brief question. Well, I was supposed to become VP of my school's FBLA club (at my school President of Club is voted in --most popular kid in club-- and VP is the person who has won the most awards...i know its weird). However, there are basically two groups of people in the club. Me and my group of guy friends who are all overachieving and active leaders in the club and a group of sophomore and junior girls who come to socialize and are fairly reticent people. However, there were going to be no girl officers in the club, so I was demoted to treasurer while one of the girls got to be VP. This was partially my fault because the relationship between the me and the club sponsor is moderately bitter and spiteful (we have conflicting and vocal political views and we are both partisan enough to dislike the other because of our beliefs). However, will this have any impact in college admissions to top tier schools if I have won quite a few state and regional FBLA awards and been active in the club?

Thanks,
Robbie

Sounds like your officer positions are quite ceremonial. Popularity contest to become club president? Tsk tsk. Unless you actually did some impressive stuff as some officer or another, colleges really don’t give a crap what officer position you are, because they are well aware the vast majority of officer positions are just names you put on a resume.

Hell, I never went to the FBLA club meetings, just showed up for the competitions, placed nationally and I got into my schools fine.

No, this will not matter on tiny bit. Do not mention any of this on your applications. List your awards and be proud of your position of Treasurer.

I think treasurer is a very important position. It says that people think you have good judgement re money.
