What should I ask for?

I already have a computer, speakers, a smartphone, and headphones. I buy myself clothes and shoes and I already have plenty.

What should I ask for?

I already have a computer, speakers, a smartphone, and headphones. I buy myself clothes and shoes and I already have plenty.

Time, love, guidance, wisdom from life experiences.

How rude/spoiled are you OP?

They gave you life. Happy birthday.

Is this something they asked you? Like, what do you want for your birthday?

music?

If not, then jeez. Don’t be so demanding.

If you want to get technical about it, your parents don’t ''owe" you anything…so if they haven’t asked you if you wanted anything don’t push it.

If you have everything you want, then why ask for more? It is really selfish of you to think like that. Its time for a reality check…

Diamonds why not. You can ask but they really don’t owe you.

Want what you have.

I don’t understand how we could even possibly tell you what to ask for. If nothing comes to mind on your own, then you don’t want anything. You don’t HAVE to receive gifts, you know.

You can ask for cash? It’s the gift that could be turned into anything.

Immediately the wild CC falls upon its helpless prey.

Let us continue to watch from a safe distance.

Ha, I was expecting this response. Holier-than-thou parents and hypocrite students.

^ Actually, I didn’t ask for anything last Christmas because I already had everything I wanted. Though my parents didn’t want to give us nothing, so they bought small gifts and a little money.

^ That’s a bit like me. The things I do want now I’d rather pay for myself. Things have more significance when you pay for them yourself. So my birthday gifts were retroactive … Parents just pay for .99 stuff I get from China off ebay.

I’m sure there’s something you want for your dorm that you don’t have: a fan, a bean bag chair, refrigerator… if you’re a college student who can’t think of something he wants then count yourself lucky.

If your parents are asking you what they can give you for a gift, are in a position to give you a gift, and want to give you a gift, it would be helpful if you had a suggestion. I know sometimes we are in this circumstance with my children, who have most of what they want or need. (Primarily because they don’t want or need much.)

Do you know how much they are looking to spend?

I’d be happy if my kid would say, “You know what I’d like? I’d like us all to go to [theater event] and out to dinner at [special restaurant]. That would be a great present.”

they owe you nothing.

Hooker?

Your parents “owe” you a birthday “present”

It’s not a present if it’s mandatory.

How about a donation to a charitable organization in your name? Or a supply of your favorite home-cooked food? Or a scrap book with a few long-forgotten photos of family and friends? Or a night out with family?
