Ok guys, I (stupidly) applied to only three UC's (LA, Cal, and Irvine), among other universities. Like I had predicted, I only was accepted to Irvine, or the UC's. Now its looking like I will most definitely be going there.

During the past week, I have been kicking myself for not applying to SB until I stumbled upon this page last night:

This became my glimmer of hope, however, I realized that it was basically an appeal and most likely wouldn't work out. Then, I remembered about transferring! I could go to Irvine for fall quarter, then transfer to SB for winter.

Does anyone think that either of these ideas will work?

you cannot transfer through the UC system until your 3rd year (if you’re a new freshmen, you’re a 1st year and you can’t transfer till your 3rd year; in college freshmen, sophomore, etc don’t mean what year you’re in anymore. you can be a 2nd year jr (highly possible))

oh and UCSB usually does not have any late-admit students ie winter admits

Bman, I know you’re talking about UCSB, but I think you’ll find relevant info on the transfer, UC Davis, or general UC threads.

I read a post yesterday by a UC Davis admissions rep that said lower division transfers are students who have under 60 units and upper division transfers have over 60 units. Like Tr1p7s said, it doesn’t matter what year you are.

So you could accumulate 60 units in about 4 quarters, or sooner if you have AP credit, go to summer school, etc.

Some UC campuses do admit transfer students for winter quarter. It depends on the year and how impacted the campus is. Since UCSB had fewer freshmen applications this year, maybe they would be one of those campuses that are open for the winter quarter next year.

You might want to call or e-mail the UCSB admissions people about this. They seem approachable.
