<p>I got an 1809 as a total on my ssat. is that a bad score?

<p>Is it good to get in to private schools. I a female in 9th grade applying for 10th grade.</p>
<p>yes, i just checked the scoring in the PR ssat prep book and thts around a 13 
.
my advice: retake</p>
<p>A 13? I just checked my scores from last year (I was also a 9th grade girl.) and I got 2268 total which was 95%. And 749 in verbal was a 89%. 755 in math was 83%. And 764 in reading was 98%. Her scores weren’t that much lower she probably got around 45% Last year the averages for a 9th grade female were
Verbal 668
Math 693
Reading 662</p>

<p>what are the 13 and 20 numbers? isnt it only a percentile and the sat like score? </p>
<p>i think it really depends on the schools you are applying to and the other things you have going on for you. if you are applying to the best schools, then it isnt a good score. but if you are applying to a good school and you are good at athletics or the arts, then you have a better chance of getting in.</p>

<p>It’s bad. very bad if you’re applying for any of the top schools, boarding or otherwise. </p>
<p>That said, SSATs are only a part of the application.</p>

<p>What the heck! I said i wasn’t applying to those big schools such as andover, deerfield, choate, etc.! I am applying to a day school and a small boarding school in pennsylvania! </p>

<p>Hard to get a picture with just the SSAT scores, but there are loads of excellent schools where your results make you as competitive as the next applicant. </p>
<p>I’d wager that 90%+ of all student/applicant commentary on this site comes from fewer than 25 kids and that 75% of that group judges itself (and others) solely on its ability to pry open the golden gates of an Exeter, Andover, Deerfield, Groton etc. While this site is fun, interesting, and provides one small (very small) data point, it does not provide anything resembling context for the boarding school community as a whole.</p>
