My story of trying to get into UT.

So, here is my story:

I went to a school while back. Due to personal reason I dropped out but never withdrew and ended up failing most of my classes. I decided to go back to college and did really well. But my over all gpa was around a 3.19 and I applied to UT last year and got rejected, I appealed and still got rejected. I applied again for the spring and was rejected again. The past year I have talked to just about everyone at the UT Admissions department. I spoke to the dean of transfer admissions right before I appealed again and I was told that the lowest GPA they accepted was around a 3.4 and that UT is not very forgiving. My GPA came to about a 3.3 after another semester of 4.0.

Anyways, so I figured I wouldn't get in and checked the admissions site after the winter break and saw it said that they could not give me admissions. Anyways, for some reason I checked again the next night at like 3 am...and my password wasn't working. I figured they just kicked me off the system completely, then i read the error message and read that I had to change my password. After changing password and logging in, I saw the word Congratulations! and just couldn't believe it. I called UT the next day to make sure it wasn't an error. Anyways, anyone reading this and in similar situation as me, do not give up!

Hook'em!

That’s a really good story to hear… I’m a transfer as well (though still trying to get in) and I can’t stop from smiling! What major are you doing?

when i saw congratulations, i read each word forward and backwards 3 times just to make sense out of it, not that it was already so straightforward. Then I had to verify my name and logged back out. Back in. Closed browser, restarted computer, logged back in, same message. I then stared at the screen for two minutes, got up, pinched myself, tried to tumble down the stair b/c usually when you’re falling in a dream, you wake up…& ran yelling around the house waking up msot everyone who had just fallen asleep. Everyone went back to sleep in a bit and I stood up the whole night reading college confidential.

Nxt, that’s probably a very normal response - no sarcasm intended! :)

hahahahaha XD good stuff Nxt, my response was like a mix of YAY and “finally…” and my rents were like “great… now go away and let me sleep.”

The standing up the whole night reading college confidential is exactly on the mark. :stuck_out_tongue:
Congratulations!

Congrats. UT needs resilient kids like you.

Congratulations to all!

Thanks guys for words of encouragement. I am an Int’l Relations major. Nxt: I called my mom at like 3 am and she freaked out because she thought something was wrong.
