so i got denied at tamu and i have a 3.9 overall gpa trying to get into chemistry or general studies. i guess my question is this: if i got denied at TAMU, do yall think i still have a shot at UT austin? honestly i feel like i had the rug pulled from under me....

Interestingly, I’ve heard many stories of near or at 4.0 transfer students getting rejected from TAMU, but I’ve never heard of an equivalent UT-Austin story like that; maybe at the business or engineering schools, idk. 3.9 should be pretty much guaranteed for natural science or UGS (equivalent to general studies) though. You should feel confident about it.

thats so weird… I would expect UT to have a higher rejection rate than TAMU (No offense to any aggies). I guess im upset because TAMU was my safety net, and i didn’t even want to go there anyways, just wanted to apply so that i could build confidence for the UT admission but now i feel so scared. And i am one of the transfers who still need to turn in final transcript in order to get an admission decision.

Ok, but with a 3.9 the chances are extremely good. TAMU’s just ■■■■■■■■ like that, so forget about it. I can’t imagine a 3.9 would get rejected from “General Studies”. Is it possible that for the chemistry major you didn’t meet all the requirements they have listed? I believe TAMU is very strict about you having practically every class they want you to have done before transferring.

okay so im not cal ready…i should have still been accepted into general studies don’t you think?
I know it was kind of stupid on my part to apply without cal readiness, but the counselor at UT told me that they would overlook that if they see that i make a high score in trigonometry…thats why i applied as a chem/general studies. SO i basically outed myself on both of my safety nets, one for general studies, and one for TAMU…

this scares me … i’m going to be applying to UT fall 2012 as a transfer student from UNT and i will have all the prerequisites for Calc after next semester… ugh

What were all your stats?

what does 3.9 translate to in terms of class rankings? what is your SAT score? are you OOS? all of those matters.

At my high school, 3.9 would be in the 25-50 percentile.
If your OOS, your test scores matters as well.

^^^ that doesn’t matter because I’m a transfer
