I took Algebra 1, Geometry, and Honors Biology in middle school. At the end of 8th grade (7th grade for Algebra), I submitted a credit request form for each class that was sent to my high school to put them in my transcript. It's been almost a year since I turned in the last form. My counselor said they would be in by the end of the first semester, but the third quarter just ended, and nothing. She said that they got a lot of forms that they were still sorting through, but would it really take that long? I'm only a freshman now, but I don't want to put this off until senior year and not be able to graduate because of missing credits.

RELAX.
In mid May, when your counselor is no longer dealing with all of the paperwork required for the graduating seniors, or you need to see her regarding the classes you should take next year, go in and and leave her a written request, with copies of the credit request forms and a quick summary of your conversations regarding updating your transcript.

Thanks, I’ll do that. I don’t have copies of the credit forms though, is that okay?

make some copies before you go to see her -give one to your counselor and and keep one for yourself.
NEVER giver away your only copy of an important document.
You dont know how easy it is to lose a piece of paper .
If it is not sitting right in front of her- it can be forgotten.
" out of sight= out of mind".

^ good advice. Never thought of that actually.

Also, will it (regardless of being written on your transcript) be recognized as being taken in middle school?
Sometimes schools do dumb things. Mine isn’t counting Spanish I for me (I took a few months, passed the final, and switched to Sp II). Also, some colleges may not recognize it.

When did you last speak to your counselor?

But good on you for taking those classes early!

@menloparkmom - How would I make the copies if I don’t have the originals? Do I just request more forms and then fill them out and keep them to take to the counselor?

@louie412 - My transcript recognizes the classes as taken in middle school, but it still affects my GPA the same as if it were a class I’m taking right now. I last spoke to my counselor sometime in February, I’m pretty sure.

@MusicalPandas - Most school distracts have High School level classes taken in Middle School count towards the High School GPA and Middle School GPA. It’s normal for a class taken then to effect your current GPA. If it isn’t listed at all, I’d start to worry.

@observeraffect and @MusicalPandas
Lucky you

And yes, @MusicalPandas, definitely ask for more forms. I’d say it’s time to ask again. Two months is a long time, even for a busy counselor.
