I recently applied to UT Austin through the applytexas website. I turned everything in in time, the deadline being December 1st. However, my school transcripts and recommendation letters were sent late (technically they haven't been sent yet; will be mailed tomorrow, on the 2nd). Question is, will I be automatically denied from UT?

I’m not sure if you’ll be automatically denied but on the UT Austin website it does state “Application items must arrive in the Office of Admissions by the deadline.”

Students are generally not held accountable for items not in their control. Just check with your GC on when they willl be sent.

Most of the schools I applied to required only the “student portion” by the deadline, meaning the application, the essay, etc. I actually emailed one with a concern and they said my SATs, recommendations, and transcripts could have been turned in a week later and it wouldn’t have affected me.

That’s why you should have applied before.
UT is going to look at you procasinating so yeah.
You will probably get in if you have their requirements or top 7% but keep in mind that many other people applied before you so dont expect much. Does that show interest in the school or nah

The student portal at MyStatus states at the very top: “Items received through December 8, 2014 (uploaded documents and online forms, for example) will be considered on time.” They have a To Do list showing all the items an applicant is missing, and as long as they get them in by the 8th, it should be considered on time. If not, I would contact admissions and notify them of any issues and tell them when you actually sent certain items out. I believe it also says somewhere that sometimes, the admissions office has received certain parts of your application, but MyStatus is not updated showing that they’ve received them, so if Dec. 8th arrives and all the parts still aren’t in, this may be why.

@fromtexas2019 When it comes to things like transcripts and recommendations, sometimes it’s not the fault of the applicant but the fault of the counselors/teachers for simply not sending them out in time. LunaZuna never specified the cause of his or her lack of punctuality (assuming a her because of the name), so I wouldn’t be so quick to blame her for her issue.

Oo nevermine i re read it. Well my school works differently we go and ask for transcriots and send them our selves
