My ucla rejection makes no sense!

I was rejected this morning. I called admissions and they told me my application was very strong, however, I had not completed the language requirement for my major (middle eastern studies). The funny part is that i have taken 4 years of Armenian (the language requirement for middle eastern studies) in High school, and qualified to have it count also as my foreign language. Therefore, i HAVE completed the language requirement. I explained this to the guy and he just told me to "appeal". It was a misunderstanding on their end... this is just 100% unjust and wrong. Let me know what you guys think - maybe im just crazy?

I think you’re in with your appeal so I wouldn’t worry too much haha… but I think it’s crazy too, then again they don’t look at your high school transcripts until after you are admitted right so how would they have known?

You are definitely not crazy…so sorry this happened to you too. Something similar happened to me…I took econ 25 (financial accounting) and UCLA isn’t counting it as their financial accounting prereq…APPEAL DUDE! All the best!

ya im really really ****ed off. it makes no sense. it says on my IGETC that i have completed the foreign language requirement by taking 4+ years of Armenian in HS. How could they not see that?

and plus i dont mind going to irvine (which was my 2nd choice) but still - its the principle of the situation. and i WILL appeal.

no man you aren’t crazy, i’m appealing as well. good luck

you guys seem to have really legitimate reasons, let us know how it turns out

did you report the Armenian classes to your CC? you TOOK four years of it in high school right?

This sounds like most legitimate reason to appeal yet.

Parev CrazySev (nice name btw…lol)

I’m also an Armenian transfer and am most likely going to UCI. Let me know if you end up going there. I’m most likely going to stay on campus at Arroyo Vista in the transfer houses.

if you didn’t list it on your application, how is ucla suppose to know? Appeal, make sure to submit your high school transcripts or whatever helps. Obviously they told you to appeal, so do it.

you should have just been like

“BRO”

they might have wanted :arabic, hebrew or Persian. i dont know about armenian though…

you got stats?

^^ Armenian is also an option. I’ve checked on their website…

BRO listen BRO maybe you should have chosen a real major BRO

i got rejected from the Mech. Engg program with a 3.89 GPA, college athletics, internships and a pretty good personal statement… it beats the hell out of me why I dint get in, i worked for those stats too.

i can only think that either its because i have subjects from abroad, ive had 3 years of college, or im off by 3 subjects (physics, chem and comp sci)… other than that I cant think of any logical reason other than I was not good enough for the department, which I still find quite hard to believe… ■■■

With stats like that, I’d call them to ask why if I were you kapitanemo.
