OK So I got off the phone with UCLA admissions and I can't be more pi*ssed and amazed at the same time at the reason they gave to my not being admitted.

First off..my stats:

REJECTED

Current School: UC Irvine

Current Major: Business Economics

Applied Major: Business Economics @ UCLA (I was a UC-UC transfer applicant)

GPA: 3.933

Extra Curricular Activities: UCI Entrepreneur Society Active Member since Fall '08,
Currently Participating in SCORE (Counselor's to America's Small Business) workshops with certificate upon completion. Dean's Honor's list all quarters. I've done Extensive Volunteer-work throughout High School.

Work: Internet Marketing and Sales position at a Small Business for ~4.2 years (2006-present, 12 hours a week)...grew the business by over 30% in terms of profits.

Prereqs: HERE IS WHERE THINGS GET RETARDED

Essays: 8-9/10

The Prerequisite courses for the Business Econ Major are as follows:

* one course in microeconomics 1
* one course in macroeconomics 2
* two courses in calculus (from the math/physical science sequence) 3
* One course in introduction to financial accounting (I did this at UCI-Econ 25)
* one course in introduction to managerial accounting (I did this at UCI-MGMT 30B)
* one advanced course in English composition. (I did this at UCI-Writing 39B, 39C)

I GOT AN 'A' IN ALL PREREQ COURSES.

I went through a lot of trouble to scramble and get these prereqs done, mind you.

So the first thing the lady says is that I was "MISSING a major prereq" and that's why I wasn't admitted.

I obviously couldn't believe this because to my knowledge I had taken every class on their long list (above). She says they won't accept Econ 25 as a financial accounting course. UCI's financial accounting courses are Econ 25 (THE ONE I TOOK) and MGMT 30A. UCI weights BOTH courses equally and BOTH courses are entitled "Financial Accounting." If you read the description of Econ 25, all it talks about is financial accounting. After taking the class itself, I can tell you it was all about Financial ACCOUNTING!

Refer to this webpage for proof that Econ 25 is the same as MGMT 30A:
http://www.economics.uci.edu/index.php?p=34
On the bottom of this page, you will see that the astrix clearly says:
"† Management 30A covers essentially the same material as Economics 25.You can take either course but you will receive credit for only one of them."

...So, the Lady says they WON'T accept Econ 25 as a prereq and says you had to take MGMT 30A!! I tried explaining to her that they were the same exact thing, but she didn't care.

..................
AFTER I GAVE UP ON CONVINCING THEIR ONE-WAY MINDSET...

I simply asked if I could appeal under the economics major, which has far less prereq requirements. AND I know for a fact that I have completed all of them! (I did not initially apply with an alternate major).

* one course in microeconomics [1]-(Econ 20A @ UCI)
* one course in macroeconomics [2]- (Econ 20B @ UCI)
* two courses in calculus (from the math/physical science sequence) 3
* one course in English - critical reading and writing (composition and literature) (I took 2 writing courses! Writing 39B & 39C @ UCI)

She said "that is not new and compelling information"...

I was like...why the hell not! If I wasn't accepted due to the lack of prereqs for the Business Econ major, and now I would like to try for the Econ major (a major where there is no arguing whether I have completed the prereqs or not), then it is new and compelling information.

AGAIN, THEY DIDN'T CARE.

All I can say is...THEIR F'ING LOSS!
