Okay, so housing assignments just came out and I’m an incoming freshman who has been assigned to the single room in a single-double suite on Myles Standish’s 7th floor. I’ve heard mixed reviews, so I was wondering if anyone could fill me in? I know that one of the main complaints is that it’s far away from everything, but that honestly really doesn’t bother me. I’m more interested in the living experience, building condition, amenities, etc. Thank you!

Hey, I’m in Myles Standish also and on the same floor! And I’m a freshman as well so I don’t think I can really help answer your question… I’ve been wondering the same things as you. Hopefully someone can help as out

Most of Myles Standish is full of sophomores and juniors. The ANNEX which is below is mostly freshmen. I will say it is one of the more disconnected dorms from the campus aside from Danielsen. It probably won’t be as loud as a freshman dorm like Warren Towers or West Campus and for that reason I doubt you will meet as many people. As you get to know people throughout the year though, you will probably end up going to their room frequently or vice versa.

The building is pretty standard like most other buildings at BU with the exception being the Stuvis. There is a dining hall on the first floor. You’re on the 7th floor so you might get a view too! I’m not sure as to how the restroom situation works there as I’ve never visited since hardly any of my friends live there. I’m free to answer any more questions you might have!

So I had some friends who lived in Myles there freshman year (on floor seven) and they loved it. I feel like it was probably because (since its a specialty floor) the non-freshman students are more willing to talk to you and help you out if you need anything. All the rooms are suites…some are doubles with a bathroom and some are doubles with an attached single and then a bathroom for the three of yall. I think that there might also be singles all by themselves with a private bathroom as well. The rooms are bigger then Warren/West rooms and you have alot more freedom with how you want them set up. It also is quieter so it is easier to study–like my roommate would go over there before big exams and study with her friends because of that fact. Hope that helps a little.
