So teher were a lot of interruptions the day my class took the ap lang exam. We were located in the pac center ( performing arts center) and the power went off, the ac started making weird noises, the lights kept going on and off and the people who were supposed to fix the problem kept yelling at each other ( they were on the same room as us) and their walkie talkies kept going off. The instructor would not stop telling them to shut up, so that kinda made it more distracting. as if all of that was not enough, the freshmen taking drama one had to take their class in the auditorium and therefore had to walk by us a few times..

i got a leter from collegeboard today. I have 3 options:

i can retake the frq section of the test some time soon ( the date was not provided)
i can cancel my score and retake it next year ( the whole exam)
or i can simply take that grade and there will be a note from collegeboard explaining the situation to whichever college i choose to apply for..

what would u gusy do? i realy dont know how i did because i tried focusing on the test, but tis obvious that the situation affected me and all the other students taking the test. Im in the summer mind-set right now and i dont know how good my writing is going to be, plus they wont let me retake the multiple choice section which i could not finish due to the constat interruptions

they dont let us see our grade… we have to choose first ( i knwo, that is just horrible!)…

what if i take the grade and if i dont like it i simply retake it next year? my chances of getting a 5 are pretty good, and as long as the other grade has the little note thingy in it i dont think colleges will count it against me

oh please!!
my eng lang testing room was next to the lunch quad, and very loud music was playing outside, it’s was REALLY loud, so it was hard to focus during my last two essays
but guess what??? i still got a 5

oh and also i got no sleep the night before either!!

In that case, keep the grade, and if it’s below 3 retake. I mean, seriously, colleges might see that one score, but then they’ll have the note and then you could retake to show you did better, and if they see the first score, they see the note WITH it. easy.

well i understand… but trust me its kinda hard to write when the room is pitch black and the lights keep going on and off for 30 min… i dont think i did extremely bad, but they wont let me see my score

anddd we were stuck in a room with the little fold out desks that were about half the size of a piece of paper,
AND i had a left-handed desk (i am right-handed), then the seat was not comfortable and i was facing a wall

lights on and off still sound worse to me but congrats on ur 5… thats the least u could expect from some1 whos been speaking the laguage his whole/for the most part of his life…

pigs at sea, congrats on your score, but just let people try to answer the OP’s predicament. you just seem like you’re trying to one-up everybody

ok, the fact is that most people are never in the perfect testing environment
if you really were good enough at eng lang to get a five, then you would’ve gotten a five in any situation, same goes for other scores

are you saying that no one in your testing room got a five???

and what was your score anyway?
there’s not point in retaking ap tests, and if you have collegeboard attach that note with your score, it’ll be a sob story for the colleges =[ especially if other ppl from your school apply to the same colleges with 5s on eng lang

Ok im really not going to argue with you anymore. I did not complain about what happened during the test, the proctor reported it and collegeboard decided i had a right to pick one of the three options… if i dont pick one before next wed theyre going to cancel my socores and i need to make up my mind. I dont know what i got… chancesare i still got a 5, but theyre not telling me…

so if you think ur great because u got a 5 on a test based on a language youve known for years, then go ahead. I dont care, ive known enlgish for 4 years and i stil possibly got a 5

ok so if you got a five, quit complaining pleaseee =]
you know that there are people in asia and europe taking all of these ap tests, even in english, getting top scores, and they have not even LIVED in america

It’s so sad that so many intelligent people can be so stupid… but yeah I think I’ll just keep my score. I have to email collegeboard tomorrow and let them know =)

If you’re confident about the score, just have CB attach the note. I hardly think such a request can be compared to a sob story. There were distractions in the room to the point that it made testing very difficult or impossible (and no, normal testing distractions are not comparable to the lights being out). In any event the difference between a 3 and 5 or 4 and 5 will not kill you.

@ pigs: I find it odd that you deride the OP for “complaining” about a legitimate concern he/she had when you posted God knows how many threads complaining about a 720 in physics and how it would kill your chances for any and all engineering schools.
