NACAC's 2011 Space Availability Survey Now Available

The National Association for College Admissions Counseling has released its annual Space Availability Survey for 2011. It is available at Space Availability Survey Results 2011.

For fall 2011, 279 colleges and universities have either freshman or transfer space available as of the initial May 3rd deadline for the survey. The colleges still accepting applications represent 44 states plus DC, as well as 5 countries. A total of 12 international colleges are represented.
Number of Colleges With…
- Freshman space available: 265
- Transfer space available: 278
- Institutional financial aid available: 279
- Housing available: 270

Depending on what one is looking for, there are (as usual) some very good choices on this list, ranging from small LAC (Eckerd, Susquehanna) to Great Books (St. John's) to popular state universities (Univ. of Vermont).

There are some wonderful schools on this list! College of the Atlantic, UMD-CP, Whitman, Wheaton, Eckerd, UVM, New College of Florida, and Saint Johns. This year’s list looks better than any of the others I’ve seen.

Can someone explain why Reed would be on the list when it says that it’s not taking freshmen or transfers?

I noticed that. Who IS Reed trying to get?

Some of the schools just answer the survey that is presented to them, even if the answer is that the school has no openings. I assume that Reed did that, which is why it appears on the list even though it has no availability.

This is such a great resource, thank you!

UMD-CP is accepting transfers only, not freshmen, per the Washington Post yesterday.

I don’t think Reed is on there? I would have applied otherwise.
