umm no one calls it eggs-ster..
at least where i live

i like andover and exeter, they sound kinda "legendary" and mrs.potts (i think that's what they call it) cause it reminds me of beauty and the beast

Mrs. Potts?
Are you sure that it isnt Miss Porters?
Mrs. Potts was my elementary school gym teacher :]

sullivan...I did not say, "eggs-ter", I said they pronounce the ex with a hard x sound. Think "exit", "example". It is not pronounced with the soft "X" sound (that the letter makes). Maybe it is a personal thing??? I do not know, we live an hour away and have friends who live in the town (both my husband and I grew up in Dover, so very nearby) and we also know many who attend the school. My husband actually does refer to the town using the soft X sound; all of the kids I know at the school use the hard X sound. Just my observation.

oh haha keylyme, i was reading it differnt. I totally know what your talking about now. Wait, do you know kids who attend the phillips, or the public school?

We probably know more at Phillips Exeter than Exeter, but we do know some at both. The kids we know at PE are kids who are from the part of NH we live in now, some are siblings of my son's NMH classmates, and some are kids who are part of my son's club soccer team. The kids we know who go to Exeter High are friends of my son's from his club soccer team.

miss porters, right lol still reminds me of beauty and the beast though

I've always felt weird saying Hotchkiss. Haha. And Loomis Chaffee. I'm not sure if it's like, CHAFF-ee or CHAFE-EE...

AHH! I was wearing a Choate shirt at the airport when I was flying home and this security guy looked at my shirt and said, "Kuwait?" And I looked at him for a moment, blinked several times, and corrected him. Then another security guard said, "Yeah, Choate, that boarding school not far from here." (It was the airport in Hartford, Connecticut) I thanked him. Hahaha. AHH it was so funny. I thought, that is why you're an airport security dude. :)

Haahahaaaaaaa
