So last year I wasn’t capable of finishing my naval academy application completely, therefore I lacked a BGO interview as well as a medical examination. This year I have decided to try again, and I’m completely curious about my chances of getting into NAPS as a pre-nursing major at a current four year university.
First and foremost, my high school GPA unweighted was a 3.6, along with a few AP classes and a heavy load of honors classes. I participated in A LOT of ECs; being on the executive ASB board as vice president of student clubs, being varsity captain of my club basketball team, and being a varsity cheerleader. I’ve spent a lot of time being a golf instructor as well as tutoring kids. 100+ hours of community service, and special recognitions by my school and community. Unfortunately I did not take AP calc or AP physics, but did fairly well in the regular class. I don’t have an outstanding SAT or ACT score, it’s pretty average. Math was never really my thing, writing was always my strong side.
I currently attend PLNU and was forced to do nursing by my parents because I am on GI bill. I did AFROTC for a little bit, and ended my first fall semester with a 3.2, and as of right now have a 3.4 for spring semester. I have taken biology(anatomy) and chemistry, writing, and psychology.
I emphasized how I really thinking go to NAPS would help me to my BGO since I am a nursing major.
I have a presidential and congressional nomination (I know that’s not a big deal because it’s ultimately up to the academy).
I just wanted a few opinions on this so I can figure out a few back up plans. Either way I want to pursue a career as a Naval Officer, NROTC in San Diego does not accept nursing students so I cannot do their college program. I would be looking at NCP and OCS. I appreciate the help and advice in advance!
