Naps

no, it's ok

good job, though

Nice work.

Rosa

dad2b'2010, I meant a full-length feature movie that has a nationwide distribution. Wasn't the first Apprentice a USMA/UCLA grad? Hey, do students wearing MIT sweatshirts get upgraded to first-class at the airport like mids do? (that was a joke, please don't be offended.)

No offense taken. I do know the difference between a movie and a reality tv series. Although the Apprentice surely is national...:)
No, but they do have their Brass Rat.. ;)

I'm going to see the movie annapolis when I visit USNA next febuary. I'm spending like 3 and 1/2 days with the midshipmen on the Navy Track team. They are gonna take me around and stuff so I can ask a bajillion questions.

NAPS06 are you a senior in High school?

If this is a recruit visit, I believe the limit is 48 hours- to be sure you are not in violation of NCAA, check their website for the official rules. A CVW (which is 24 hrs) is not considered an "official" visit by NCAA standards as it is open (technically) to everyone (abet, by invitation, but to recruits and non-recruits alike). You can make an ulimited number of unofficial visits- but official visits are limited to a total of 5 (even if they are all to the same school). The NCAA website has all the rules listed concerning this matter, and breeching them will render you inelligible to compete your first year- all the more reason to download and read carefully.

Also, for those considering playing varsity-level sports at USNA (or any other D-ranked schools for that matter) be sure to register with the NCAA Clearinghouse; you can do this starting early Senior year.

So can you use ur CVW 24 hours and your NCAA 48 visit time in one sitting?

The limit is 48 hours for an offical athletics visit ( I took a track visit in October- Sparkledust what event do you do??). I got an invitation to a CVW so I guess you can take another 24 hours that way. I didnt do a CVW because I had already visited for track.

Yes, I am.

no, I'm leaving on a thurday night and staying in a hotel, they are picking me up on a Friday, and I am leaving Saturday evening, so pratically 2 1/2 days in maryland and 1 and 3/4 of a day at the Academy, no it's not a recruit. I applied to the academy, but that's the only way I could visit for free. I do sports, I am a state and regional champion and I compete nationally, in track.

I am though running for the Academy after NAPS even though I have been recieving scholarship offers from many other decent schools, non compares to USNA. I chose USNA, well at least the PREP because I feel they will prepare me mentally and physically, running is indeed mentally challenging as well as any other sport. Maybe I was wrong on my length of stay for 3 1/2 days, but as long as I go it's gonna be so cool. Sorry to say I live 3 1/2 minutes away from a military base here in KY (fort knox) and they are so stinkin strict on everything. It's boring here, I wanna venture out from the norm, I wanna be different, which of course I am, but my heart is calling me to serve, the name of USNA rings through my head.

I've been to Fort Knox. It was a strange visit. My mom visited and became obsessed with Patton. She watched the movie, read War as I Knew it, etc.

All i got out of it was Goldfinger. Oh well,

Rosa---out.

Hey Congrats Sparkledust!

I know another girl from my school who is going to NAPs with us. She is a swimming champ at our school.

How many napsters are USCGA and USMMA bound out of the rest of the students in the school?

When I graduated in 1987, approximately 30% went USCGA. We didn't have any that went USMMA.

Just some added info re: CVW: they start you early 9am on Friday)- make sure to arrive about 30 minutes early- and you finish about 10:30am on Saturday morning. It amounts to a short stay, but well worth the time to "see inside bancroft and what goes on" to at least some extent.

Personally, I would not take a chance on "adding" a 48-hour sponsored visit to a CVW (even if it is possible)- the NCAA can be very strict about recruiting, and you don't want to put a coach or team in jeopardy by anything that can be considered, correctly or incorrectly, as a breach of the regulations. If you are unsure, contact the NCAA BEFORE you do anything.

Another thing to consider- if you do sports, and can attend one of the summer camps USNA offers, you are down there anywhere from 3 to 5 days (depending on what camp you do)- and you stay in Bancroft- and eat in Kings Hall, and use the facilities- and you get to see the Plebes as they go through their summer- and it does not "count" against your NCAA "visits" ....and there is always the summer seminar ( which will add some classes and PE to the experience) - all good ways to get a feel for the yard.

APAN

sorry it took so long to reply. I run everything from the 200 to the mile including every single realy, and I do pole vault. My speciality is the 400m though, my main event that I excel in. What do you do? I hope to run for the Academy, what about you?

SD-

haha your all across the board, eh? I run more middle distance races like the 1000m indoor and the mile outdoor. Im kinda the filler person- I get thrown into wherever they need people. I tried to pole vault...but it didnt work out too well haha. I was recruited to throw the Javelin at Navy, so i guess that is my specialty :). I run the 4x4 relay. I hope Ill get to run as well as throw at the Academy. Gotta shave some time off first tho. Maybe Ill do the steeplechase, it looks kinda fun :D

Uh... I do discus and shot put.

Man this NAPS forum is long this year. I asked about NAPS last year and it didn't even extend this long(Maybe 1 page.) If you have any questions about NAPS, I'll be happy to answer them.
