Hey guys! I’m working on norrowing down my list, so I would like some help because I can not apply to all these but I’m not applying until next year to transfer so i have time to do this more. I plan on going to law school after undergrad
University of Florida (100% applying)
University of North Carolina (100% applying)
Duke (most likely applying!)
University of Southern California
University of California at Los Angeles
University of Michigan
Rutgers University
Florida State University
University of Miami
Yale
Stanford
University of Texas
University of Illinois
University of Minnesota
Ohio State University
Pennsylvania State University
University of Pennsylvania
Princeton
Tulane
Washington in St Louis
Northwestern
Notre Dame
Some of them, I dont think i would apply to because I’m unsure of location. Such as Tulane, I visited New Orleans and I just was not feeling it at all. Then others, probably are just dreams to get in (such as Sanford, Yale, Princenton). Others would be just safeties. So I guess I just want to know about some of these schools to narrow down my list because I really don’t want to go visit each and spend all that money.
Are you applying for sophomore year or junior year?
Also, how good were your high school stats? For a lot of those schools, they are going to want a high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores.
All that aside, I would say you have the best chance of getting into FSU, Miami, UF, UT, Ohio State, Minnesota, Rutgers, Penn State, and Illinois. As for reaches or so, I would say USC is a possibility (deadline is soon! Feb. 1), UNC and UMich could happen. UCLA is a toss up since mostly California CC kids are admitted. Unfortunately as well, Stanford, Princeton, Yale, and UPenn only accept maybe <4% of transfers, probably less. So unless they are your dream schools, I probably wouldn’t pay an application fee for them.
The others are toss ups. Which schools can you see yourself really being excited about? Any special criteria that you have that can narrow this list?
Princeton does not accept transfer applications. Yale’s rate is around 1% - Stanford’s is, as well. Penn is around 9-10%. Do research and narrow your focus based on which colleges you know you would be comfortable at. In terms of academics, size, location, etc. you need to clearly and specifically address these schools. You have got a year, so research is a great way to start.
