NASS physical activity

Calling all people who've attended NASS. I will be attending NASS in few days. Would anybody be willing to give me a heads up on how physically challenging the activities will be? I admit, i'm not the most physically fit person, but i'm not a couch potato either. I know that I can push myself. But at the same time, I don't want to have to be rushed to the hospital. Please help!!!!!!!

Just push yourself. PEP is bearable...just like a little running on the field and pushups and situps. Mock Sea Trials is the hardest. Just constant physical activity for like 4 hours. You don't need to be an olympic athlete to succede, just work hard.

Bring bug spray, i'm covered in bug bites. The PT was not bad, but you do get tired combining with classes, all the activities. A lot of running, running in formation, sit ups, pushup and the like are harder after all the running. Remember their are 600 other people with you. Oh and the Squad Leaders are watching.

Beat Army!

Bug spray? haha I'm lucky then. And Sea Trials was more like a million hours (aka like 7-ish). That was the most difficult thing. Just try your hardest and you'll do fine.

oh yeah you're right...Sea Trails were longer

Hey GlitterGirl ...
Can you specify when the physical assessment was done? Are there "minimum" levels for passing each event/activity? What are they?

Was there another physical fitness exam or exercise then as well? I confess to being confused.

Thanks for clarifying.

We had PEP Sunday morning and then took the CFA on Sunday afternoon. Started out with the basketball throw, pullups, shuttle run, situps, pushups, and then the mile. There are no minimums that they told us, they just told us to do our best in all of the events but there are maximums though I don't know them. There was a mock PRT which is what the mids take and we did that monday morning.

Here is USNA link for the CFA, it does list the maximums.

http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/paeinstructions

You can find the minimum for the PRT here

http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/steps8.htm

Glitter is right that there are no minimums listed but doing well on the CFA is important. I would recommend going back about 10-12 months to our c/o 2010 posts on what most people scored on their CFAs. If I recall, we had a thread in which many people listed their scores. That should give a good idea of what to shoot for or surpass :)
