NASS - Sea Trials?

My son is going to session 3 and we read the postings by Lola's mom - which was nice for him to know what to expect! He wants to know what is Sea Trials?

Sea Trials was seriously one of the most fun days of my life. you get to spend about 8 hours solid running around like crazy. 2 hours is spent in the pool, treading water, building a raft and racing, swimming, pushups on the side of the pool, etc. then comes 2 hours out by the track, running laps carrying tires and stuff, playing capture the flag, crawling around on the ground, doing lots of extra pt, and staying in the pushup position for seemingly hours. after that was 2 hours in the bay doing pushups and situps in the sand, crawling around in the mud through a course, climbing on ropes, and more crawling on the grass. the last 2 hours was spent punching mats, crawling, crunches, holding up logs, and a 1 1/2 mile endurance course. somewhere in there were mre's for lunch. man, it was terrific. i can't wait until we do the actual sea trials this year. (just a sidenote: that was what ours was. if any one's was different, input please)

I think it is just one of those things where you have to wait and find out.

It's fun.

Hhhmmm, we didn't have the endurance course last year, but it was also 95+ degrees and I think i remember them cancelling stuff because of that, but I'm not positive.

By the end everyone is so tired but you just keep doing it, actually laughing when they tell you do do pushups, and then you do them anyway. It's incredible

Our Sea Trials started out at Hospuital point where we wrestled, used Zodiacs, and did several teamwork type activites (relays, etc). Then we went out to the Naval Air Station and did the e-course which is like a 1.5 miles of obstacle course on a lot of hills, that was probably the hardest thing for me. After that we did log PT and then martial arts and more platoon pt. After that we ran. The pool was my favorite part. We got to do relays and tread water and do PT and jump off the 10 m platform. The MREs were good, the vegetarian one's were the best said everyone! After that we went to Ingram Field and did more PT like the tunnel of love where you stay in pike forever and scrape up your knees really really bad. And a couple more teamwork activities. There's also a race and the PT circle!! Ahh that was the last thing we did and we thought we would die.
I Loved Sea TrialS!!!!! It was my favorite part, I think.

BernyB10: Session 2 definetly did the obstacle course last year.

Anyone who is worried about PT, have no fear because you are not alone. I remember alot of people who werent up to Navy standards, and no one thought less of them. However, whatever you do, dont drop out, because then your squad will definetly think less of you. We had a kid who faked an injury just to get out of what was our last phase of Sea Trials (it was the one in the indoor track carrying all the fuel cans and tires around and the tug of war/PT/capture the flag), anyway he was in crappy shape, but I think it was just that it was his attitude. He acted like he knew it all, cuz he was an NJROTC kid, but when it came time to do anything athletic he was SOL. Anyway to end my rant, dont worry if you arent a PT stud, just try your best and dont quit.

Well I was in session 1, and unless I have gone crazy, we did not have it unfortunately.
But yeah, as long as you try hard you should be good, just don't be a slacker acting like you are hurt or anything.

Yeah, I was with bernyb10. I was disappointed that we didn't get to do log PT or the endurance course (and some squads didn't do zodiacs either). Hey hey, though, now we have a whole killer-awesome summer full of fun stuff to do! Haha. 16 days!

Yeah I remember going to the zodiac place and no boats being there, very disappointing. I think we just went swimming to get the mud off after.

But yeah, I'm sure we'll make up for it in just over 2 WEEKS!

We never did the teamwork stuff on the bars at Hospital Point (I just remember seeing people wear sweatpants there, which we never got around to...), but I think we made up for it by doing a zillion tug-of-wars (which our squad and platoon leaders joined us for, because we only had 5 people in our squad by that time) and 200 jumping jacks right before dinner at Hospital Point.

My NASS sea trials got ruined by some really nasty weather... One it was "black flag" I think it was called where we werent allowed to be out in the sun for any extended period of time and then it was dang near a hurricane out there. We did some of it though...
