NASS 2007 online meet and greet.

Future NASS 2007 folks I propose You get to know each other here. post your session and information you want to share. You can compare notes and when You get to the meet each other it will be more fun. Parents are encouraged to reply as well as we may have the fun of getting to know each other as well.

I agree! I am attending Session 2 of NASS 2007. I am from Texas. Oh and just wondering... What is everyone else doing to prepare physically?

Yeah I'm going to session 3 and from Illinois. Physically, I try to run 3 or 4 times a week, a couple miles at a time and then do the normal pull ups, sit ups, push ups. And for people practicing the basketball throw, what kind of distances have you been getting.

I have been getting mid to low 80's and high 70's but have been improving... only get a chance to practice every once in awhile... i have been running a lot and timing my 2 mile..... i really need to work on pull-ups though. Any advice for pull-ups anyone?

If you all would like we could set up a little chat session over on www.serviceacademyforums.com for you guys. If you come up with a time I'll make sure everything's set up in our chat room.

Im going to session 3 also. I live in Virginia so I'm already pretty close to annapolis. I think this online chat and meet and greet is a great idea.

Just let me know a date and I'll make sure we've got everything set up for it.

I'm going to session 2 and I'm from Pennsylvania. My physical preparation has basically just be my sports practices, which take up ALL of my time. I've had soccer every day after school and volleyball twice a week (5-6 hours) plus the occasional all day volleyball tornament on a weekend. Now that I'm done with soccer, I'm going to start timing my runs, doing longer runs (5+ mi), and focusing on pushups and pullups. I'm going out this weekend to try and find a pull up bar... Anyone know anything about those?

I have rafters in my basement so I just hung a bar from two heavy duty wires. It works great, but if you don't have rafters anywhere you could probably put a bar in a doorway that doesn't get used that often.

Hello all,

I'm going to session 2 and I am from New Jersey. I am preparing physically by being involved in atheltics at school. I can't wait to go just 24 more days! woo hoo

Hey wafflebear! You weren't by any chance at the dinner in Horsham, PA, were you? There were some NASS people from NJ there.....

Hey! I'm from Phoenix AZ and I'm going to session 3! My physical prep. is kind of lacking at the moment due to all this studying! Where do you find the time? And does anyone have advice on the bball throw?? I'm a girl and my distance is really bad.

Hey, I'm from Chicago, and I'm attending session 3. USNA I Hope, where are you from in Illinois?

I'm just across the river from St. Louis, in the Belleville area.

gonecokanutts,
Hey! No I was not at the dinner. But I am going to an event this Sunday in New Jersey. Good Luck with your training. Thank god for sports I believe it makes training so much easier.

Plebewannabe,
I'm a girl too. My distance isn't great but I believe running distance is more of a mental thing. Everyday push yourself to go further and harder. Don't let yourself stop. This mentality pushed me to keep going.

Oh haha thanks for the advice-no i meant my distance for the basketball throw. Sorry I didn't really make that clear. I'm actually a cross country runner so I can probably handle running the distance. :)

Hey,
I am from Illinois and will be attending Session 1. I've been working on my push-ups, sit-ups and pull-ups as well as running when I can. I can't wait to go. Is anyone else as excited as I am?

Oh Yeah! I am so excited. With my friends the USNA comes up atleast once in the conversation...

I'm from Michigan, and I'll be @ session 2. To prepare physically... hmm... well, I run track.

arhead70: Yeah, I am too.

I'm from Massachusetts, attending Session I. I row every day for 3+ hours (team at school) and I'm doing pullups and situps after practice.
