"I saw lots of snacks and power bars and drink mixes on the list at the beginning of this topic. I recall taking a few granola bars and Gatorade mixes but not really using much of it. I tend to not eat much as it is though so plan according to your food "needs". "

The reason I had snacks was for the airport and layovers because I do not like to buy the expensive airport food. Should have said that in my first post.

And the lock was just what the letter form USNA suggested bringing so I threw that in. So is bringing a lock really needed?

The lock is not required but is needed to secure the locker in your room to protect your belongings. Believe it or not, things do get stolen in Bancroft Hall even though there is an Honor System. When I was a mid, everything was left out in the open, but theft became such an issue that the academy decided to install hasps on the lockers in Bancroft Hall.

Seriously, you don't need to bring shirts. You're always in the shirts they issue you and I went to bed in my clothes for the next day.

No more mud wrestling pit -- at least for session 2 -- so your sneakers don't get destroyed. They only get dirty in the bear pit, any mud where you're running, the e-course, and PT in the water.

Prior to NASS I, the academy had just cleaned and refilled the pool in Lejeune Hall. After the NASS candidates had completed the swimming portion of Sea Trails the pool was filled with silt. Apparently, the pool staff wasn't pleased with all the dirt and silt that ended up in the pool.

Sucks about the bear pit because that was really fun (I was in session 1), but the pool was the most rediculously had thing I have ever done (except for the 5 meter which was awesome). I thought that I was a decent swimmer but treading water for 10 minutes with no hands when you are already ridiculously tired is not fun. I seriously thought I was going to drown. Anyway I know its too late for what to brings but I definitly wanted more snacks for my room (I got to buy some in the mid store though) because runny mass produced eggs don't taste to good and more "wife-beaters" for under my shirts.

My duaghter said that treading water with no hands is a standard drill for varsity swimmers. She also said that the flutter kick drill was very painful.

The pool phase looked painful. Although I was also in pain, doing my extra-long wall sits with my arm tied up. Even though the pool looked extremely tiring, I would've traded in my injury to hop in the pool. It looked fun ... at least from OUTside of the pool!

I am definitly going to practice my water treading and to me the only fun part of the pool was the 5 meter. That was the only phase besides the relays where you where you didn't have to support yourself in the water the whole time. In the two other parts you never got a break from the water.

ahhhh flutter kicks and arm circles were insane! lol we did them so much! all in all sea trials was awesome no matter how tired i was the next day

On the E- Course the detailers told us we werent supposed to do the one obstacle because it took too long but our squad leader let us do it anyways!!

The bear pit was still up and running during session 2 just not the the mud pit. Atleast i think thats what they called the circle wrestling thing.
