National Acheivement

I live in VA and I got a 192 on the PSAT. Would that be enough to be a National Acheivement Semi-Finalist? Also, if it is enough, when do they notify you of this? Is it at the same time as they do National Merit? Thanks. :)

Are you a junior? If so, and you make NASF, then you’ll find out next fall.

Yeah I am a junior.

A 192 sounds like a qualifying score. In the meantime, you should look into the Honors College at The University of Mississippi. You sound like the type of student who would do well there.

It is my understanding that qualifying for National Achievement Finalist is more complicated than meeting a known cut off on the PSAT. From what I have seen and read about the program, the PSAT scores tend to be above 200 for winners of this award. So, it is very competitive. I think you are just going to have to wait to find out, like m2ck has said.

Keep in mind that unlike the National Hispanic Recognition Program that recognizes the top 5%, this program recognizes less than 2% of the top African American students.

I got my national achievement letter today. To be a finalist you have to submit a secondary application which required an essay.

Thank you for all the help. I guess I just have to wait until September to find out if I qualify.
